2 Days in San Antonio De Areco: History And Heritage

The first day in San Antonio de Areco

We leave the city of Buenos Aires and after a two-hour drive, we’ll arrive in San Antonio de Areco where we’ll be welcomed by a local guide who will accompany us through the streets of the old colonial city.

During our visit we’ll pass by the old "pulperías", bars and stores from the old days, the Draghi goldsmith museum, the parish church of San Antonio de Padua, and the most emblematic local artisan workshops of the city.

After a traditional lunch, we will discover the old bridge, the Areco River, and the famous gaucho museum Ricardo Güiraldes, and start our way to the estancia to visit its facilities and get accommodated to get ready for dinner on the estancia.

Second day in San Antonio de Areco

After breakfast we’ll enjoy a free morning at the estancia, the gauchos(the local cowboys) will invite us to join them for a tranquil horse or carriage ride through the fields and herds of cows.

Arriving at lunchtime we will have a delicious barbecue under the shade of centenary trees, a scenic landscape that connects us to the gaucho way of being. To complete this scenery, you will have the opportunity to appreciate the equestrian skills very representative of the area, and that’s not all, the gaucos will invite you to participate in the traditional dances of Argentina along with guitar playing.

In the late afternoon we will return to the city of Buenos Aires and arrive at approximately 5:00 pm.
