Itinerary Description

Tour Start

From El Calafate, in just a few minutes, we will begin the ascent to the Cerro Huyliche. The journey starts by traversing the slopes of the Cañadón del Arroyo Calafate, where you can spot native wildlife such as guanacos, foxes, hares, loicas, ibises, caracaras, and falcons, among other species. As we ascend along the winding path surrounded by erratic boulders, you can observe the traces of glacial erosion's power.

First Balcony: Witnesses of Geological History

Our first stop will be at the First Balcony, an impressive setting from the Cenozoic Era dating back 65 million years. On the bed of an ancient sea, you will observe fossils, sediments, and fossilized vegetation that narrate the geological history of the region.

Zipline: The Ultimate Adventure

The next destination is the intermediate balcony, where the zipline activity begins. After a brief safety explanation, the guides will provide the necessary equipment (harnesses and helmets) and give clear instructions for completing the circuit. The zipline includes four lines totaling 2,920 meters, offering an exciting experience as you descend the hill while enjoying spectacular views.

Descent and Visit to Estancia Huyliche

After completing the zipline circuit, we will continue the descent to the Estancia Huyliche, a historic cattle ranch that has been in operation since the 1920s. This site is also linked to the events of the Patagonia Rebelde. At the oldest house on the ranch, you will enjoy a lunch, snack, or dinner, depending on your booking time.

Descent Options

The tour offers three modalities for descending the hill:

  • 4x4: Ideal for those who prefer comfort and less physical effort.
  • Zipline: The most exciting option for adrenaline lovers.
  • Trekking: Perfect for those who want a closer connection with the natural surroundings.

In case of adverse weather conditions or if a passenger decides not to perform the zipline, they can choose another descent option.

Seasonal Variations

During winter, the 4x4 ascent may be limited due to snow or mud accumulation. In these cases, the ascent is made to the Eastern Balcony, located at 800 meters above sea level, from where you can enjoy panoramic views of El Calafate, the Argentino Lake, and the Andes Mountain Range. The zipline activity also adjusts, using the most spectacular lines of the circuit.

Do not miss the visit to the balconies of El Calafate, you will be amazed!
