Itinerary
The Escondido and Fagnano Lake Tour gives you the chance to explore the incredible areas around Ushuaia, Tierra Mayor and the Fuegian Andes, on a route that goes through valleys covered by wetlands. On this day tour you will discover the spectacular panoramic views of these two water formations. This is an ideal place to relax surrounded by magical landscapes, especially if you’ve had a busy few days of travelling and touring!
The tour departs from Ushuaia to the north, travelling on the famous Panamericana road, or National Route 3. The road passes through Valle Carbajal, an interesting glacial formation, and continues through Tierra Mayor until Garibaldi Pass, located 450 meters above sea level. There you’ll get a chance to take beautiful photos, as you cross the Andes Mountains, with the beautiful Lake Escondido in the background – a glacial lake where you can observe the construction of reservoirs by beavers, an animal introduced into this environment. The tour then continues to Fagnano lake, or Khami Lake in the native language. Located in the centre of the Fuegian Island, it is known for its ideal fishing conditions and unique landscapes. Mostly Argentinian, 93% of Lake Fagnano is in Argentina, while the rest is shared with Chile, where it opens up into the Strait of Magellan. Walk along the scenic shoreline, relax and take advantage of the peaceful atmosphere and pure air.
